We started our journey by a hired bus at 8 a.m. Destination was Sonargaon. We reached our destination at 11 a.m. We took necessary utensils and materials with us. After reaching there, some of my friends began to cook lunch for us. But, I and Sumon, Azad, Pervez went out for sightseeing of Sonargaon. We had a bath in a nearby pond. At about 2 p.m., we had our lunch. We came back home at 6.p.m. On the whole, the picnic was very interesting and enjoyable. But, it is sorrow that you could not attend with us.

It was winter vacation. Our school was closed. I with some of my friends arranged a picnic. We selected Sonargaon for the picnic spot. It is some twenty miles off Dhaka.We got into the bus hired before at about 9 am with all necessary utensils and materials. After reaching Sonargaon we finished our breakfast by 9.30 am.
We did not take any cook with us. Our mathematics teacher, Mr. Anwar hossain has a reputation as an expert in cooking. I helped him in cooking. Some were singing, some were cutting jokes and other were playing different types of games. At about with full appetite. After lunch we went out for sight seeing. Sonargaon charmed us most. We started for home at 5pm after faking our tea.

Hope you are well. How are your classes and study? I have been terribly shocked to know that you are quite indifferent to your study. Nothing can be more deplorable than this. Don’t you see how the good students are respected? You don’t know how much exciting it is to have a good result in the exciting it is to have a good result in the examination. An application for a free Studentship

I did well and stood 2nd in the last annual examination obtaining more than 80% marks in total. My father is the only earning person of our family consisting of six members. His income is too small to meet the expenses of education of all my brothers and sisters. So it is not possible for me to continue my study any longer.
My, I therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to grant me a full free-studentship from the current month and thus enable me to continue my study in the school.

You will be glad to know that I stood first in the final Model test of our school. You know I could not do very well in the pre- final Model. But after it was over, I began to study vigorously. I got 80% marks only in Mathematics. I thought about it seriously. I found no subject hard to me. Earlier I did not study on any subject very seriously except Mathematics. Before our test examination I studied very well for two months. Every day, I started to study at 6:30 p.m. closing the door of my reading room and continued up to 12:00 (midnight) with a gap of 20 minutes for supper in the middle. After that I myself assessed them with the help of the answers prepared earlier by my subject teachers. You can say, I was in deep study while night and I sat for exam in every morning. The practiced helped me so much that I have done quite well in the Model test of our school. I can assure you that if God wishes I can fulfill your expectation in the coming examination. Now I am quite hopeful of having my JSC result with GPA 5.In the final Model Test I got grade point 5 in every subject. First of all, I would like to tell you that I worked very hard in English. But as you are aware that I am not good at grammar, so I couldn’t attend the grammar section properly. Actually, I need tuition in English grammar. I have already talked with the teacher concerned, who has consented to give me tuitions for two months only. Without good command over English grammar, it is just not possible to secure good marks in English. Therefore, please allow me to take the tuition so that this problem of English grammar is solved forever.

Now to the accident when I was returning from Delhi by bus, I saw that a truck and a motor car were racing abnormally fast side by side. The window glasses were broken to pieces and their splinters had made deep wounds on the bodies of the passengers. There were'4iJc'passengers inside the car besides the driver—two young men were seriously injured and the bleeding was so profuse that despite first aid administered to them by some of the passengers of our bus it could not be stopped and the two young people succumbed to fatal injuries just in the presence of all of us. The girls who happened to be, as it was known later on, to be their sisters, were crying and beating their breast. One of the children had its right arm cut. Such a serious and shocking accident I had never witnessed before. Even after my reaching home I went on thinking and thinking of the ways of destiny and it was after long time that I could recover from the shock. Who could imagine the agony and grief of the kith and kin ? Wishing you happy and prosperous life.

As I informed you earlier, my annual examination will be over by 29^th April. On 30^th April, I along with a team of ten students are planning to go to a nearby village, Mator. We intend to educate the illiterate villagers there. Our team will be headed by our professor. Dr. Pannikara. We will teach them how to read and write our mother tongue, Hindi. We will also train them to write their signatures. We’ll stay there for a week.

Illiteracy is a curse in our society. Many problems and hardships faced by the poor villagers are because of the illiteracy. Our tour will help the villagers and the beneficial for us also, as well will get the first hand knowledge of rural scene. I will inform you about our detailed programme later on. Everything is fine at my end. I am preparing well for my annual examinations.

My favorite game is cricket. This game is full of life. In cricket, I like ‘20-20’ cricket matches are really very interesting, require a quick decision and a killing spirit. Whenever the cricket matches are on, I just sit before the TV and watch the match from beginning to end. I am a staunch admirer of the Australian team, a team with unmatched killing spirit. I am enjoying my stay in the hills and breathing the fresh, invigorating mountain breezes.

There are not many hotels here. I am lucky to stay at my Uncle’s place, as it is situated very near to the Mall and gives a splendid panoramic view. I have already climbed the top of Jakku Hill, to the Hanuman temple. I have also visited Kufari, a place famous for skiing. I gone for a stroll at the mall in the evening and also enjoy horse riding everyday. I have visited many nearby places worth seeing and enjoyed trekking.

Shimla is indeed a beautiful hill station. I am having a wonderful time and enjoying my stay in this beautiful valley. Rest is all fine. Write to me about yourself and your plans after graduation.

Therefore, we have decided to collect rupees fifty from every house and to distribute sweets and clothes to the poor. I think, in this way, we will be celebrating this festival more meaningfully. Last week, I went to Goner Fair with my younger brother Raju and two friends. This grand fair was held near the lake. There were thousands of men, women and children. I went there for ‘darshan’ of Lord Jagdish (Vitthal) and also to enjoy the village fair. There were tea stalls, sweets’ shops, namkeen stalls, toys, bangles, clothes shops and video

stall, as well as magic show. We also witnessed a Death Well, in which two motorcyclists drove their bikes at a very high speed. It was really thrilling to watch them do so.

The villagers were enjoying the fair by singing and dancing. Camel race was the main attraction of the fair. A magician was showing his magic tricks openly. A snake-charmer was making the snakes dance to his tunes.

It was an enjoyable day for me and friends. Next time, do make a programme of visiting the fair with us. You will surely enjoy it as much as we did.

Yesterday was my birthday. We all knew, you wouldn’t be coming but waited to hear from you. At last, the courier boy came with the parcel. Uncle, I received many gifts on this occasion, but your gift was the best. You have gifted me a beautiful wrist watch, which is now my favorite possession. In fact, everybody liked it. I thank you very much for such a lovely gift.
